Since the last poll was 11-2 in favor of a SCORING change (over a lineup change), please vote on which option to incorporate into our league rules: This was the current scoring: Fumble Recovery = 4 points each Forced Fumble = 4 points each Interception = 4 points each Def TDs = 5 points each QB Sack = 2 points for every 1/2 sack (4 for a solo sack) Assists = 1 point for every 2 Assists Tackles = 3 points for every 2 Tackles ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here are the options: OPTION 1 - For LB's only, reduce tackles to 1 pt per tackle while leaving the DL's and DB's at 3 pts per 2 tackles. Tackles (LB) = 1 point for every 1 Tackle Tackles (DL / DB) = 3 points for every 2 TacklesOPTION 2 - For DL's and DB's, increase tackles to 2 pts per tackle, while leaving the LB's at 3 pts per 2 tackles. Tackles (LB) = 3 points for every 2 Tackles Tackles (DL / DB) = 2 points for every 1 TacklesPlease reference this post for more information about how these scoring changes will impact the league: thebigleague.proboards18.com/index.cgi?board=changes&action=display&thread=1064

What if we actually doubled the points for IDP players Original Option 2 scoringDL's and DBs - 2 points per tackle LB's = 3 points per two tackles. If we change it to DL's and DBs - 4 points per tackle LB's = 6 points per two tackles. Would that help bring the IDP guys up on par with the offensive side of the ball? thebigleague.proboards18.com/inde....lay&thread=1064

The purpose of this change was to bring parity to the defensive positions so that the LB position wasn't the overwhelming point-getter on that side of the ball.
I think that both of these options will solve that issue, while still keeping the IDP's competitive with the offensive players - without turning it upside-down.
However, I will mock that up on the MFL site and repost the Top 100 overalls to show what the outcome would be, which I think would be significant.

Kyle - based on your suggestion - here is the Top 100 breakdown for all positions:
TOTALS: QB 11 RB 6 WR 10 TE 1 PK 0 DEF 1 DL 8 LB 22 DB 41
There's no way I would support doing this, but I do appreciate the effort with your suggestion.

if I read that spreadsheet correctly, in Option 2 the DB's are the most valuable.... I think that is wrong.. LB's are the most valuable position on defense and should be in FF... I'll adapt, but just wrong in my opinion!

There's no way to make them perfectly even, but it certainly makes the DB and LB positions a little more balanced - compared to what the current set up was. And, since we're leaving the lineup's the same - it gives owners more options with the flex position.
I agree with you that it may not be the absolute best solution, but it's damn near as close as we can get it. I suggest we move on with whatever the vote comes out to, and then revisit the scoring again in the offseason after playing a season with the set up as is.
Just have a little patience... it'll work itself out!

I'm cool.. just think Option 1 is the better of the two.... anyone smart now will start more DB's than LB's...

It all depends on who you've got on your team too, but I think that either scoring option provides a little more balance than before.

doesn't say much for the 4 who didn't vote.... don't care now, won't during the season too...

However, I'm not cool with adjusting the rules AFTER the draft. Again. owners are trying to build their teams around a certain set of rules and changing the rules after the draft is like pulling the rug out from underneath them. Whatever is decided is what should stay in place.

The leauge by-laws allow for off-season changes, which can include scoring changes.
Ok, so the final vote was 8-4 in favor of Scoring Change Option #2. Thank you to everybody who voted, and hopefully the 4 that did not vote won't have any issues with the results. I will be posting the IDP scoring onto the League Rules this weekend and hopefully that will be the end of it.
Now is the time to begin preparing for your draft - Auction style!
I will be setting up a couple of Mock drafts during July to get those who didn't do an auction before comfortable with the application. I will likely use FantasyAuctioneer.com to set it up, so keep your eyes open for an invite and join a mock draft!
5 BLB's will be awarded to each GM for attending at least one mock draft.

I'm cool.. just think Option 1 is the better of the two.... anyone smart now will start more DB's than LB's... There are 15 DB's with more points than the top LB through 3 weeks! Just ain't right IMO.... The scoring was good......

I agree, there was NO reason to change the points in the first place.

i tried to tell everyone it was skewed now in the wrong direction.... Never thought I'd see the day I started a DB over a LB!
