I'd like to propose this and we can vote Sunday at the meeting....
Head Coach Proposal for 2008...
1.) Get rid of the head coach position.... 2.) Years remaining will be removed and applied to the 80 year cap...
Simple enough.... If it doesn't pass can we atleast rename it from Coaches to Good Teams vs. Bad Teams..LOL

Let me take this one step further.
There are 8 teams that would be impacted by eliminating the HC position as a result of having their HC signed beyond 2008.
They are as follows: TEAM HC YEARS Hive = Brian Billick (2) Wunderlichers = Marvin Lewis (1) Ho's = Eric Mangini (2) Jackrabbits = Mike Tomlin (4) Condors = John Fox (2) Barrister = Bill Belicheat (4) Fundy = Wade Phillips (3) Crew = Norv Turner (1)
Hive's already going to lose out on Billick (unless he re-signs somewhere else). A refund of these contract years is simple enough to eliminate the HC position. I would even go so far as to refund any BLB's that were used to extend the contracts of any of these HC's, but I don't think that happened.
Can anyone think of another fair or equitable way to compensate these 8 owners in order to eliminate the HC position in 2008?

i don't see why the compensation.. they get the years back which helps their cap situation.... if i pick up a rfa for 30 blb's and he gets a career ending injury.. do i get the blb's back?

If they extended a players contract with the existing rules in place and then the were altered we NEED to compensate the teams. I agree with Buddah that most likely it did not happen.

I was only referring to any extensions to their contracts that may have happened during the season. We had to pay 20 blb's to extend these contracts by a year.
I believe you are referring to this:
13.10 In the case that an NFL player retires or is permanently injured as defined by the TBL 2 Commissioner that player will be dropped from the roster of the Franchise that he is on at the end of the Fantasy Football Season at no cost of blb's.
I think, under the circumstances of eliminating the position, it would warrant a refund of at least the amount an owner used towards any extentions, but, like I said, I don't think that happened anyway.

If the league votes to totally eliminate HCs -- rather than the Right, Moral, Just, and Holy thing God wants it to, and simply reduce their points) -- I'm not even going to spare your dog, GT.

anybody that thinks Coaches are a part of fantasy doesn't deserve my respect...... Please tell me what they do? Most don't even call the plays.... In case many of you did not know this they have these things called Coordinators that do that. Coaches make personnel decisions and game management calls. Good players on bad teams put up points or have the possibility too (i.e Ronnie Brown) Coaches on a bad team have zero chance.. And I'm so sure Belichick would have won 16 with the Dolphins this year.... If some of you base your strategy on coaches it doesn't say much. i'd keep that to yourself... I really think we should have stadiums too... If it rains or snows you lose 5 points if it's sunny you get 5 points... This is fantasy football.. not about moral values or political stance, or upbringing..... And don't worry about my dog... he's got some pissing to do and I think I found some things for him to go on....

anybody that thinks Coaches are a part of fantasy doesn't deserve my respect...... I don't have your respect? Really. That's going to keep me awake all night. ...We do occasionally see games ultimately decided by HC decisions. Anyone who says HC decisions aren't important regarding personnel, game plans, ass't coaching hirings, ultimate play-calling control, whether to go for it on 4th-and-1 or kick the FG, timeouts, other game day decisions, etc., etc., just doesn't know squat about football....I will now personally be escorting GT to The Gates of Hades. ....Hmmm. Kind of like the idea of having Stadiums. It will give GT something productive to do for us with his graphic design skills when he's eliminated from the playoffs in Wk 3....But the proposed 10 point swing might be too much, given the clear advantage for those with domes.

I like the stadium's idea too.... MOTION CARRIED! ;D
My post above that detailed the 8 GM's who have HC's under contract was not to suggest that we SHOULD get rid of them - it was just to provide the data.
This, along with everything else, will be up for discussion during our GM meeting on Sunday. How I'd like to have it happen, if there are 3 or more GM's who want to see a change, then I will post a poll to gauge ALL GM's interest in the same.
Note: The polls will be used to guage the interest of GM's for a particular change. A majority vote does not mean that a change will automatically be implemented. There are many other factors involved - but, I will use the polls to guage the interest of the league.

This will never go through, but poll it up..... As a protest.. I will not use a coach this year and still make the playoffs!

If you don't use a HC position, you would jeopordize your playoff status as that would be considered an illegally submitted starting lineup! (like starting a player on a BYE week).
All I want to hear from the GM's in this league is that they are OPEN MINDED to changes. I don't like some of the ones that are being proposed - but, I'm open minded.
I voted No to switching from RTS to MFL - but, we're going to MFL because the large majority voted for MFL. I'm ok with that - I'm not going to quit over it. I'm not going to say we have to wait until 2025 to make a major change like that. Sure, it's not the same as adding or removing a position or two, but it just means, have an open mind - if something (like the HC position) is dumb to you, just roll with it (which I'm sure you will). I didn't like it either when I came here, but I started a HC each week and did my best.
Remember guys - this is only Fantasy Football.... my intent is to make this league a FUN and COMPETITIVE one for years to come. I don't want it to become a drag-out, drop-down fist fight over "details". I put the FU in FUN!!
