I know it's a long way out before free agency, but I have been thinking of some situations that I don't believe we have clear answers for.
1. Can you place the franchise or transition tag on a defensive player?
2. If you win a bid on a franchise or transition tagged player and you have more than one 1st or 2nd round pick, which pick do you forfeit? I'm guessing your original pick. What if you do not have any of your original draft picks?

1. I don't see any reason why not. The 9 player IDP limit will remain in tact through RFA, but that shouldn't prevent you from tagging an IDP if you wanted. Remember, tags only apply to players with 1 year on their contract.
2. I think this question came up last year too. Before I try to guess at the answer, I'm going to look back to see what we did then and we'll remain consistent. I'll post another reply shortly.

Ok, I couldn't find where this question came up before - but, after thinking about it - it doesn't matter which pick you give up if you have more than one.
You MUST have a 1st round or 2nd round pick in order to bid on a tagged player, but it does not matter which one you give up.
