In regards to the rule pertaining to adding one contract year to a player in season at the cost of 20 blbs, can you extend the contract of a player currently on IR? Just wondering.

I don't see any reason why you can't. There's nothing in the rules about not being able to extend the contract of a player on IR.
The rule states: At only one time during the regular season, each team may lengthen the contract of one player by one contract year at a cost of 20 BLBs times the number of consecutive years the player has been on the franchise with partial years rounded up.
