TBL 2 owners: Please take the time to browse thru the forums for the original TBL to get a feel for how their RFA process is going. When our RFA process begins, (current rules indicate March 1, however this date is subject to change), it will be the responsibility of every TBL2 GM to ensure that they are checking these boards daily in order to keep up with this process. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH GM TO KEEP TRACK OF THE BIDS ON THEIR PLAYERS. This will be the first RFA process for many of us, so please be sure you review the TBL2 Rules, www.tbl2.com/Rules.html#12 as it pertains to this RFA process, and ask if you have any questions.

I saw this post on the TBL board
------------------- The Atoms would like to offer the following contracts: Alge Crumpler- 3 yrs Byron Leftwich- 3 yrs Michael Gaines- 2 yrs Jon Kitna- 3 yrs -------------------
under the new TBL2 RFA rules are we able to extend the contract years of more than one player? I'm so confused on tis. I keep reading we only get one shot one time to extend a contract but then I see thee guys signing multiple guys to multi year contracts.

In TBL, as we'll have in TBL2, we get 1 year to add to one player. This is done after a Trade is made (if you still have the year) or during the off-season for a cost of 20 BLBs (I believe). You only get 1 year and once you use it, you are done until the end of the next RFA period. The posts you see now are all the RFAs being bid upon and won. When you get a player through bids in RFA, you can sign him to whatever number of years you want. Same with Draft picks, for example, TBL Commish signed Marques Colston to a 10-year deal after winning him in RFA (from me I might add...but he paid dearly for him...375 BLBs!) Did I cover everything, Rob???

Actually, the rules in TBL 2 allow for you to add a year during the season AND prior to the RFA session if I read them correctly.

Rob is correct - your Westbrook extension was during the regular season. Now, during the roster-resign period (off-season) everybody has until 2/29/08 to extend the contract of ONE player by ONE year. I will create a separate thread for the roster re-sign's.

The RFA pickins' may be kind of slim for us this year, since most of our top studs are signed to multi-year contracts.

Two RFA questions:
1. If I place a 20 blb Transition tag or 50 blb Franchise tag on a player, does the opening bid by another team have to be 21/51? I assume so, since I'm going to lose the 20 or 50 blbs in any event, and otherwise someone could get him for 12 blbs or something.
2. If I ultimately match another's bid on my Transition or Franschise player, do I get to keep the player or do I have to actually outbid my competitors?
Thanks.

If you place a tag on an RFA, the opening bid for him would be 21 or 51. 2. Since the player is your Restricted FA, it's like you own the 'tiebreaker' on him, so you only have to match the highest bid to retain him.
